The sauna infusion promotes sweating. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to make a sauna infusion.

First, the sauna master or a person responsible for the infusion should prepare the sauna session. This means making sure that there are enough sauna stones on the sauna heater and that the heater and the cabin are heated up.

Then a bucket outside the sauna cabin is filled with water. This water can be either cold or warm. Next, infusion is added to the water, according to the dosage as recommended by the manufacturer of the infusion. Popular fragrances include eucalyptus, menthol or citro. You then go into the cabin with the filled bucket and distribute the water evenly over the hot stones of the sauna heater using a sauna trowel. The water evaporates and thus the humidity in the room is increased.

Under no circumstances should you pour too much water. The recommended amount is 20 - 30 ml per cubic metre of room volume (width x height x depth).

Example:

For a room volume of 10 cubic metres, use a maximum of 300 ml of water. If too much water is applied to the heating elements, they will wear out prematurely and a short circuit may occur in the stove.

The intensity of the infusion can be increased by the frequency with which the water is poured onto the stones. As a rule, an infusion is made 2 - 3 times.

After cooling down, sauna-goers should take a short rest, cool down with cold water and relax on a lounger.

Sauna Infusion Concentrate

When you have a scratchy throat, a stuffy nose and a fever that makes you feel hot and cold, the thought of a hot sweat bath when you get home is often the only thing that keeps you going. Whether it's the first summer flu or the cold winter season when it's storming and snowing, a trip to the sauna beforehand is always a blessing and would certainly have prevented this condition.

With heat against the bacillus

Even our grandparents knew that the quickest remedy for a cold is to sweat. Sweat, sweat and sweat again. And where better to do this than in the cosy warmth of your own bed?

Once you are healthy again and sitting in the Sauna cabin and breathe in the sauna infusion, you know that the germs no longer have a chance. On the one hand, regular sauna sessions have a preventive effect on the body's immune system, on the other hand, a sauna infusion with a special sauna concentrate can clear the respiratory tract in case of a slight cold. Total relaxation and a stunning sense of well-being not only have a positive effect on body and soul, but also get the organism going so that it can take up the fight against pathogens. Afterwards, a restful long sleep and you are using the best medicine that nature has to offer.

Reinforcement for the sauna - the sauna infusion

Especially when the hot stones of the sauna heater are doused with a special sauna infusion, the respiratory tract is caressed by fine sauna fragrance. The mild water vapour briefly increases the air humidity and stimulates perspiration. All harmful substances are banished from the body and you can really recover from the stress of everyday life. However, the sauna-goer must of course choose the right mixture of water and sauna infusion concentrate for the sauna infusion. There is a wide range of aromatic substances and fragrance oils for a healthy and pleasant sauna fragrance. For this reason, sauna lovers can do without home-brewed mixtures for sauna infusion from the herbal kitchen, which may not always be harmless to health.

Sauna infusion concentrate and sauna fragrance for every occasion

It is better for sauna lovers to use a special sauna infusion concentrate from a specialist retailer. Because these are naturally tested for compatibility and you can be sure that the infusion with such an additive cannot harm you in any way. No matter whether the sauna infusion should have a relaxing, stimulating or healing effect, a sauna fragrance is grown for every occasion. Sauna lovers can choose a fragrance that suits their personal preferences. Sauna infusion concentrates are available in different fragrances such as birch, spruce needle, orange, grapefruit, mountain pine, eucalyptus, mint, lime, camphor, tropical fruit, pina colada or sandalwood. Each sauna infusion concentrate shares one advantage with the others: they make the senses vibrate and provide that special sauna fragrance.

saunaaufguss mit mentholkristallenThe sauna infusion must not be missing in the sauna. Sauna-goers who can't find sleep after a busy day can find rest and relaxation with a sauna infusion. It all depends on the right sauna infusion concentrate. If you choose a sauna fragrance such as strawberry, rosemary, vanilla, lavender, lime, sage or sandalwood, you will find that this sauna infusion works better than counting sheep. If you want to go to a party later in the evening, however, you should choose a different sauna infusion concentrate such as pineapple, bergamot, aniseed, birch, lemon balm, coffee aroma or lime blossom. Such a sauna fragrance has an invigorating, stimulating and uplifting effect, so that you can enjoy the long night.

However, if the sauna infusion is to have a healing effect on the first signs of a cold, the sauna-goer must resort to other herbs as a sauna infusion concentrate. A sauna infusion with classic, well-known herbs such as eucalyptus, mountain pine or menthol clears the airways, as does a sauna infusion concentrate with a sauna fragrance of juniper, fennel or acacia blossom. This quickly alleviates the worst symptoms and quickly banishes the germs from the body through sweating. Afterwards, of course, the sauna-goer should immediately get into a cosy warm bed to get a good night's sleep.

The ritual of the sauna infusion - it also has to be learned

First of all, every sauna lover should ensure an authentic ambience. For a classic sauna infusion, therefore, a wooden infusion bucket and a wooden ladle must be available. Because without the right ceremony, the sauna infusion is only half as beautiful, claim the connoisseurs, and they should know. So the sauna lover should mix his sauna infusion concentrate with the fresh water for the sauna infusion in said wooden bucket. Then, of course, the sauna must be prepared for the ceremony. First ventilate well, because fresh air is very important for the perfect process. To do this, simply leave the Sauna door open for a while until sufficient oxygen has entered the sauna cabin. Then the first short sweat session takes place, which should only last a few minutes to prepare the body for what is to come. Then comes the appearance of the master for the sauna infusion. Using the wooden infusion ladle, he shovels portions of the sauna infusion concentrate mixed with water onto the hot stones of the sauna heater. A steam mist infused with sauna fragrance fills the room when about a third of the sauna infusion has evaporated on the stones. This is swirled around the room with a towel before the next third is poured on. The next swirl follows and then the final sauna infusion. A successful end to the infusion ceremony.

A well-made sauna infusion is as much a part of taking a sauna as sweating and the heat. With a little creativity and high-quality products, you can create an individual mixture that will give your next sauna visit a very special touch. True to the motto: anything is possible that smells great and does body and soul good.

The classic sauna infusion consisted of water

Traditionally, the original sauna infusion consisted simply of a ladle full of warm water, without any additives. In the meantime, it has become common practice in wellness facilities to add essential oils or other good-smelling substances to the infusion water. If you are a fan of different scents and would like to use this for your own sauna, you can easily prepare your next sauna infusion yourself. To do this, you should fill a wooden bucket with water and add a fragrance essence of your choice. You will find a wide range of herbal and fruit essences in specialised shops or on specialised websites. In order for the effect of the essential oils to develop fully, you should use warm water for the sauna infusion. If you add the selected oil immediately before the infusion and do not add it to the water beforehand, the fragrant effect will be greater. However, the oil should never be poured onto the stones undiluted, as there is a risk of fire.

Less is more

Before you make your infusion in the sauna, it is best to open the door briefly and let fresh air into the heated cabin. Then close the sauna door again and prepare the sauna infusion. To do this, add a few drops of the selected scented oil to the water and spread two to three ladles of this liquid mixture over the sauna stones. A short time later, the hot, fragrant steam rises and provides you with optimal relaxation.
